About Course

The course is focused on studying the geodynamic structure of Mugodzhar using the example of the ophiolite complex

Participants will study the structure of the “Steinmann trinity,” the Wilson cycle, methods for describing and mapping submarine volcanic rocks, and the connection between chromite deposits and upper mantle rocks.

Learn how to describe volcanic rocks of oceanic facies in the field

01

Master structural and lithological mapping techniques

02

Acquire the skills to identify ophiolite complexes and their connection to mineral deposites

03

Discover the Bershugir Geopark

04

The course will be useful for employees of geological exploration and mining companies, petrographers and structural geologists, as well as undergraduate and graduate students.

Basic knowledge of volcanology, petrography, and plate tectonics theory is assumed.
